The iconic game DOOM continues to surprise its fanbase by being playable on increasingly unconventional platforms, with the latest feat being presented by MIT students who successfully ran the game on E. Coli bacteria. Keeping the spirit alive, an unprecedented gaming experience is on the horizon, allowing gamers to delve into the DOOM universe via a robot lawnmower's screen.

In a recent technological showcase, Husqvarna announced plans to integrate DOOM into the operating system of their advanced robotic lawnmowers, specifically the ‘Automower NERA’ series. Known for their significant contributions to garden maintenance, Husqvarna aims to blend the realms of gaming and gardening in a novel way.

Scheduled to be launched in April 2024 – and explicitly not as an April Fool's joke – this unusual gaming experience will be accessible to users for a limited period. Those eager to battle demons while tending to their lawns can do so from April until September 2024.

To participate, individuals must utilize a mobile application provided by Husqvarna to install the game on their NERA lawnmower before August 26, 2024. The company has made it clear that DOOM will be automatically erased from all devices on September 9, 2024, marking the end of this unique gaming window.

For gardening enthusiasts who also share a passion for gaming but don't currently own a Husqvarna Automower, acquiring one comes with a significant investment. The base price for these advanced lawnmowers starts at around £1,999 ($2499), with the premium models reaching up to £6,000 ($7600), merging high-end gardening technology with an iconic piece of gaming history.
