Apple has recently broadened its Tap to Pay service for iPhone to include more nations. The announcement was made on a Tuesday, revealing that business owners in regions such as Austria, Ireland, and Sweden will now have the opportunity to use this platform to accept in-person and contactless payments without needing extra hardware. In a notable milestone, the tech giant also celebrated the tenth anniversary of Apple Pay—its mobile payment service—by introducing innovative payment methods and reward opportunities.

According to Apple, businesses utilizing Tap to Pay can receive payments through contactless credit and debit cards, as well as through Apple Pay and various digital wallets. This encompasses cards from providers like American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa. To utilize this service, a compatible iOS application on an iPhone Xs or newer is necessary, running on the most recent iOS version. The technology ensures secure transactions by employing NFC technology. First unveiled in 2022, Tap to Pay for iPhone was initially confined to the United States, but it has since been introduced in additional countries.

In a recent announcement, Apple shared that the service is now accessible in Austria, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Romania, and Sweden. The company is collaborating closely with top payment platforms and application developers within the payments and commerce sector to enhance this offering. The payment platforms Adyen, SumUp, and Viva.com are among the first to endorse Tap to Pay across all five newly included locations.

Global Payments with Erste has rolled out Tap to Pay in Austria, the Czech Republic, and Romania, while Stripe is providing the same service in those countries, plus Sweden. Contactless payment options will also be available through Nexi in Austria and Sweden, as well as via Revolut in Austria and Ireland. Apple's users in Austria can take advantage of Tap to Pay with providers such as myPOS and PAYONE, while those in Sweden have the option to utilize Zettle by PayPal for similar services.

In the upcoming weeks, Hobex in Austria, BOI Payment Acceptance/Global Payments and Square in Ireland, along with Surfboard Payments in Sweden, are set to implement Tap to Pay services for their clients, as confirmed by the company.
